Produced by Ben Cullum who has written and/or produced hits for brother Jamie Cullum, Rizzle Kicks, Rebecca Ferguson, Billy Porter and many more.
I wrote this as ‘Good To Be Alive’ a while back, and decided to re-record it. The track is anthem based, whereas the original version, also anthem based, had a very definite 1980’s feel.
Ben added to the instrumentation and restructured the strong, creating a much more modern/contemporary feel with an Electronic, Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Funk/Soul sound.
We also used a live drummer mixed in with a drum machine, which is a very different take on how my tracks to date have been built.
For the video, we also took a more contemporary angle, we used AI effects to bring it to a wider audience.
The outfits have a Cosplay, Anime look, which I think works well with the revamped track. I also used a megaphone to accentuate certain vocal lines.
We tried to convey both a club and live visual throughout, the AI snippets give it a modern energy.
The song was originally written for my parents when I first moved out of home aged 17, which comes across well in both versions of the track.
This is very different from my original recording, they are two completely different bodies of work, so really, I have gained two songs out of one !
Producer Ben Cullum was great to work with, really creative and fast, he has had a long career producing and writing for other artists as well as creating music and voices for gaming.
Bens other credits include : Serena, Sarah Harding, Hattie Webb, Joseph Dean-Osgood, Sean The Sheep Movie, The Perfect Dark Series, The Egg, he provided the English voice for Falco in Star Fox Adventures and Super Smash Bros. Melee. He also helped compose some of the music in ‘Adventures’ alongside David Wise.
I hope you enjoy this new take on my music. Thanks for watching and listening, please consume my music !

Lyrics
I will never give it up
Just no money, but I don’t care
I'm fast as lightening, and quick as silver don't you know
I feel so good to be Alive
So good to be alive
Alive, So good to be alive
If you’re black as ebony or as white as Ivory
Its still so good to be Alive
I will get what I want,
Do what I like, but I don’t care
I can be as hot as fire, or as cold as ice, don’t you know
I feel so good to be Alive
So good to be alive
Alive, so good to be alive
If you’re black as ebony or as white as Ivory
Its still so good to be Alive
Daddy this song is for you
Mumma to share with you too
Missing you, I am writing to say, that I’m ok
I feel so good to be Alive,
So good to be alive
Alive good to be alive
If you’re black as ebony or as white as Ivory
Its still so good to be Alive
If you’re black as ebony or as white as Ivory played not sung
I feel so good to be Alive
So good to be alive ,
Alive
So goos to be alive
Alive
So good to be alive
Alive
So good to be alive
